Hethersett Old Hall School pupils receive their certificates from Arnolds Keys

PAINTED DUCK WINS SCHOOL CRAFTY PRIZE

Published 19 November 2015

Pupils at Hethersett Old Hall School will be able to get crafty – thanks to a painted duck.

Seven pupils received an arts and crafts hamper and a £50 cheque, as first prize in a competition run by local property consultancy and estate agency firm Arnolds Keys to help promote the annual duck race run by Break, the firm’s nominated charity for 2015.

Schools across Norwich and north Norfolk were asked to decorate a duck to help raise awareness of the charity; the ducks were displayed at Break’s annual duck race in Norwich in August, with the public asked to vote for their favourite duck.

The winner was Hethersett Old Hall School, and representatives from Arnolds Keys and Break attended an assembly at the school to present certificates to the pupils who painted the duck, and hand over the prizes.

Sean Peace, head of the Preparatory Department at the school, said, “Our younger pupils had a lot of fun painting the duck, and of course were delighted to hear they had won.  It was exciting for them to be presented with the wonderful hamper of arts and crafts materials and their individual certificates, and the cheque will be very useful for our craft club.”

“I was pleased that we had the opportunity to hear from Break about the sterling work they do for young people, too.”

Presenting the prizes, Arnolds Keys marketing co-ordinator Alex Atkinson said, “We were delighted with the enthusiasm and creativity shown by all of the schools which took part.  We hope the children enjoyed themselves as much as we did being involved in the competition, and hope the winners at Hethersett Old Hall School will enjoy their prizes.”
