Major property websites such as rightmove.co.uk report a huge spike in people visiting their websites over the Christmas period, in particular on Boxing Day, in 2017 traffic to their website jumped by 26% in January so now is the perfect time to prepare your home to sale.
Here are our top tips to ensure you maximise the interest over the forthcoming weeks.
Throughout the winter we see quality over quantity when it comes to buyers. Whilst purchasers are lower in volume, they are often more aware of the market and highly motivated. They will have a full appreciation for what your home is worth in today's market and being over optimistic with your asking price will only deter them from a viewing and lead to failure in the market.
Go easy on the tinsel and don’t have your Christmas decorations on display in your property photographs or if you do, ensure they are retaken in the first week of January as it will date sales details. The same goes for snowy external shots. Keep your photos fresh and appealing to purchasers. We are happy to revisit to refresh photos, we want your house to look appealing as much as you do.
Put the lights on
Show your property off to its best; making it light and appearing spacious especially with the dark winter days is key. Make sure that every light is switched on prior to the viewing, including all lamps.
Crank up the Heating
Nothing feels less homely than a cold house especially if the property is empty. Ensure your home is warm and cosy before any viewings take place.
Spruce up the Garden
Most gardens look pretty sad over the winter months but you can go a long way to ensure they look neat and tidy. Clear leaves, sweep muddy paths and add the odd splash of winter colour with pots and troughs by the front door with winter flowering Pansy and Cyclamens.
