NORWICH’S ESTATE AGENTS SHOW SUPPORT FOR CITY’S HOMELESS

Published 20 February 2023

Estate agents in Norfolk & North Suffolk have shown their support for people who don’t have a home, by making a £2,000 donation to a city-based charity which helps the homeless.

The Norwich & District Association of Estate Agents (NDAEA) made the donation to St Martin’s Housing Trust, which provides a range of help for the homeless, including emergency hostel accommodation, helping people into more permanent homes, and support for people with mental health and substance abuse issues, as well as raising awareness of the issue of homelessness across the city.

NDAEA chair Jan Hÿtch, a partner at estate agents Arnolds Keys, said, “For those of us for whom helping people find their dream home is our living, knowing that there are too many people who don’t have a home at all is a big concern.

“The NDAEA has supported the fantastic work that St Martins does over a number of years, and we are pleased to make this latest donation, especially at a time when not having a home presents extra problems in terms of health and wellbeing.”

Jo Gillies-Wheatley, director of internal operations at St Martin’s, added, “We are appreciative of the ongoing support St Martins receives from the Norwich and District Association of Estate Agents.

“We believe that everybody should have a place to call home.  The lack of permanent, affordable housing is a significant problem in our country, and we support people every day whose accommodation is inadequate or have little choice of where to stay.  This donation will go towards providing more accommodation for homeless people in Norwich and Norfolk.”
