Tom Corfield, Agricultural Partner, attended the latest Morley Agricultural Foundation Advisory Council Meeting.
Tom recently attended The Morley Agricultural Foundation Advisory Council Meeting, gaining valuable insight into the innovative work taking place across the foundation’s farm.
As part of the meeting, council members were given a tour of the farm by Farm Manager David Jones, who outlined a range of ongoing crop trials designed to explore new approaches to improving productivity, resilience and efficiency in modern farming.
The visit provided an opportunity to see first-hand how practical research is being applied in a working agricultural environment. Alongside discussions around crop development, David also shared updates on staff initiatives and the continued development of the farm’s operations.
One particularly interesting project focused on the conversion of pig manure into compost. The trial is exploring how livestock waste can be processed into a valuable resource, supporting more sustainable farming practices while helping to reduce waste and improve soil health.
The Morley Agricultural Foundation continues to play an important role in advancing agricultural knowledge and encouraging innovation within the sector. Through initiatives such as crop trials and sustainability-focused projects, the organisation helps provide valuable insights that can benefit farmers across the region.
The visit highlighted the importance of collaboration, research and continual development in ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the farming industry.
It was fascinating to see the breadth of work taking place on the farm and hear about the practical research being undertaken. The crop trials and composting project were particularly interesting examples of how innovation can support the future of agriculture.
