Work has started on the construction of a new 3.15 acre development of light industrial and warehousing units on Beacon Park at Gorleston – part of the New Anglia Enterprise Zone announced in August, and for which Arnolds is acting as joint agent.
Blackfriars Court will consist of 15 units, ranging from 295m2 (3,087ft2) to 697m2 (7,500ft2), which are being developed by Lowestoft-based Wellington Construction. Being in the Enterprise Zone, businesses moving in will qualify for five years rates relief (subject to meeting certain terms and conditions). Units are being offered on either freehold or leasehold terms.
The first sod was cut by Great Yarmouth Borough Council leader Steve Ames.
Paul Pitcher, Director at Wellington Construction, said, “Blackfriars Court is a great opportunity for businesses to locate within the New Anglia Enterprise Zone, with all the benefits that brings in terms of rates relief, super-fast broadband and accessibility.
“We are building a total of just over 50,000ft2 of high quality, energy-efficient light industrial/warehousing buildings, with a high specification including power floated concrete floors, full height shutter doors, low energy lighting and fit-out options including additional mezzanine flooring.
“This is the first speculative industrial construction to start on Beacon Park since the Enterprise Zone was announced, making Blackfriars Court an important first step in growing the Park into the premier business location in the east of the county.”
Beacon Park is rapidly becoming the leading business location in eastern Norfolk. Situated on the southern side of Great Yarmouth, it currently comprises 25 acres of mixed office, industrial and leisure development. Wellington Construction is the major developer on the site, having already completed large bespoke buildings, as well as developing an office campus, Wellington Park.
